An Homage to Berlin! Authentic. Aesthetical. Unique. Experience three totally different Berlin Nights                       on just one night!

What do the House-Diva Renee, Franz Liszt and Urban Dance have in common, why is there a DJ named Tomekk amongst GoGos, a Show Barkeeper, Breakdancer and Modern-/ Jazzdancer? And how does the guitar player of NENA, Nader Rahy, fit into this, who is chatting backstage with Timothy Thorson, student of master Liszt in 4th generation?

Samuels Entertainment brings you the new Berlin Show Berlin Nights - from 24th of March to 9th of April directly into the famous "Theater am Potsdamer Platz" in the heart of Berlin - and shows the facets of the past 15 years of the city's nightlife on stage, recreating their unique Berlin Night-time magic. This original cast of 40 local artists will only get together for 12 unique shows to celebrate the creative scene of Berlin together.

Come along - be fascinated, excited and entertained. Be a live witness to the action: a single show offering piano, song, contemporary dance and variété, acrobatics, interactive entertainment, club feeling, hip-hop, breakdance and DJ-ing, live jazz, funk and revue which are all melded into one, giving you an evening you will never forget.  These facets are what Berlin Nights presents on stage because this is what makes Berlin what it is!

The anthem "I am Berlin" - out now - will be performed live on stage by DJ Tomekk together with Renee.  Entertainment pure – by Berliners for Berliners and the city's true friends and fans.

The show has its origin at the turn of the millennium, when, due to Berlin history, old storage depots and factory buildings were abandoned and turned to be hip hosts for all sorts of different nightlife activities: partys, concerts, vernissage, clubbing... Berlin Nights joins classical music, club-feeling and variété atmosphere plus an involving live music experience. The visuals represent something guests and the ensemble will be familiar with: an old factory building with battered grey concrete – based on the original Berlin club scene like Berghain, Sisyphos and Tresor. The theater itself will turn into one of these hip locations, only Berlin can offer.
You will experience 3 totally different Berlin Nights on just 1 evening on stage:
  • a piano soirée accompanied by contemporary dance
  • a multi-faceted club night with hip-hop, breakdance, DJ-ing, showbarkeeping and singing
  • a live concert with variété elements and urban dance.
The artists, all outstanding in their art and full of passion, are all locals and make this journey a unique one giving Berlin Nights an unbeatable authenticity.

Drop by and be our guest – of Berlin Nights – the new Berlin Show, presenting the GENUINE Berlin nightlife. This is a performance showing the essence of Berlin. The city is honest, because it celebrates its uniqueness, follows its own path and does its own thing – bending, but never breaking.

To ensure our audience gets the very best, we have engaged only absolute top artists in their genre. Find out more about them under Artists & Crew.

The idea for this widespread production comes from Björn Scheffler, head of Samuel's Entertainment, and owner of 3 dance halls in Berlin. Having grown up in Berlin and being deep-seated with the city and culture of Berlin, he formed the nightlife scene of Berlin at the turn of the millennium himself actively and helped to make it what it is now. With this project he does what has never been done before in Berlin and which - in an authentic way - can only be realized here: he puts on stage the unique nightlife of this vibrating city at the turn of the millennium, full of individualism and unmistakable charm, unique due to history. Many of you will identify with this setting as they have been part of it and still are.

Berlin Nights resurrects the Theater at Potsdamer Platz.

We're breathing new life into a structure that has – much to Berliners' regret – been unused for some time: the THEATER AT POTSDAMER PLATZ. Its prior history came to an unexpected end last summer – with a Berlin tale. And now we're writing a totally new chapter – another BERLIN Story.

The interior is based on a familiar setting for guests and the ensemble – an old warehouse typical of Berlin, made of crumbling grey concrete – similar to the Berlin club scenes such as Berghain, Tresor, E-Werk, Sisyphos, Bar 25, Kater Holzig (called "Kater Blau" these days), the Bunker, etc.

After the city had been divided for decades, a wall fell and this metropolis discovered new freedoms where creativity and nightlife culture flourished in countless abandoned factory buildings of what had been East German territory – as well as out in the outdoors.

Over the years a trend emerged due to the attraction of these abandoned warehouses, breweries or power stations. These 'noble trash' locations were the absolute best party locations for all kinds of events: galas, parties, club nights, concerts, electronic music performances as well as company events. One evening you had a classical music concert, on the next there was a wild party within the same crumbling concrete walls and then just a few hours later – after the last traces of the party had been removed – business folks met for a rustically cool business lunch. This is Berlin. This unique feeling is what Berlin Nights is all about – telling the multifaceted story of such a location.

Berlin natives are familiar with the Theater at Potsdamer Platz as a location for particularly massive musical productions, leaving quite an impression here – and then there's the Blue Man Group, of course which performed here for a number of years. Now comes Berlin Nights, joining a remarkable and famed group of productions and will be winning over Berliners' hearts with this authentic Berlin Story. It is a special and unique honor to have the opportunity to perform in this theater. We look forward to this privilege.

I D E A

...the origins of our Idea.

Berlin is big. Berlin has so much to offer. Berlin's got history. Berlin has its very own nightlife, celebrating its own cultural wealth, its people and turning every evening into a unique event – and that's got to be shown on stage. Our audience will get to see the multifaceted nature of Berlin's nightlife – all in one show.

Already back during those days of Player's Delight, Butterfly Effect and the steadily growing gay and lesbian scene, party guests at these huge locations wanted the thrill of special acts – it was about much more than just rockin' and rollin'. This was when discotheques like Tollhaus, Adagio, Matrix, Narva Lounge (and many others) booked show acts to make party nights scintillate – every week something different – change was in the air every night. Masses of party enthusiasts congregated from all over the world, thronging the doors of clubs for 1 night, for multiple nights to be a part of these cool club scenes and especially techno clubs like KitKat/ before Sage, Tresor, Bar 25, Ostgut, House of Shame/Bassy and many others.

There were also variété acts, acrobatics in theaters such as Chamäleon, the Admirals Palast, Wintergarten, etc. Berliners loved turning their evening entertainment into something astonishing. Revues at the Friedrichstadt-Palast and plays were also tremendously successful. The Theater at Potsdamer Platz was impossible to ignore with its lavish musical and show productions. Despite the growth of the music and youth-bent party landscape, these cultural, acrobatic and entertainment arts retained great popularity.

And at the same time in the more shadowed corners less publicized, jazz music was a draw in a multitude of bars and smaller clubs. Musicians met up after work for a jam session during improvised concerts on smaller stages, getting to know each other one beat at a time. Some of these musicians were discovered here by already famous singers or bands and invited to audition. Some of them still tour together – now regulars with the 'Big Guys'n Gals'.

Due to the growing music and film sectors – getting more and more coverage in the media – the 'special effects' field attracted more attention. Berlin concerts and events promised: more sound, more bang, more action. Light design, pyrotechnics and dance emerged as omnipresent along with the pop music, playing a huge role in Berlin shows. Film productions got more expensive and had to bring in famous names and increasingly 'realistic' visual effects and animation. Actors from Berlin and beyond have the voices to dub the big Hollywood names such as Robert de Niro, Brad Pitt, Leonardo Di Caprio, George Clooney and James Franco, making Berlin a capital for recording studios.
